2020 was a challenging and unprecedented year, and the field of Therapeutic Music was changed forever. As many facilities closed non-essential services, TMs faced a harsh reality: We were no longer able to offer our music, during a time when people needed it most.
Throughout the months, musicians turned to technology to continue expressing their art. Therapeutic Music through remote Zoom sessions went from an unpopular, marginalized service, to a mainstream offering. We marched into the unknown, wondering if the effects of the live music would suffice if we were not in direct contact with our patient. To our pleasant surprise, many - if not most - of the benefits remained. A new door opened for the TM field, where we can bring our music, compassion, and spiritual healing to the homes of those who are seeking peace and comfort.
In-person TM work has resumed, but technology-based services will remain as a viable supplement to our work. This course covers all of the best approaches for offering therapeutic music virtually:
